DROWNED IN SLOUGH
An Itaian, named Maniro Isidoro, who had been working at the salt works for the past few months, came to town November 1 and made a few purchases. He failed to return and a search was continued and the body was found floating in the creek Thursday. The unforunate man had evidently fallen from the boat and being unable to swim had drowned.

Obituary
RWC - December 8, 1892
George Jacobus, son of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Jacobus, fell from the new school house at San Mateo last Friday morning, and his escape from death is considered miraculous. He was employed by Mr. Ahlert, the plumbing contractor on the new public school building, and his duty yesterday morning consisted in distributing sheets of tin around the edge of the roof. The morning was rainy and the cornice upon which he walked, being covered tin, was very slippery. He was on his second trip around and came to a point in the front of the building where a bundle of shingles was in his way. In stepping around this he slipped and fell heavily to the ground, a distrance of thirty-eight feet. In falling his body struck a glancing blow on a wood-horse, and this checked the force of the fall, which was very fortunate, as the earth beneath was very solid. He was picked up in an unconscious condition and blood was trickling from his mouth and nose. It was first feared that he was fatally injured, but he soon recovered consciousness and was removed to his home. His right leg was broken near the thigh. Dr. Ross of Redwood City and Dr. Morse were summoned and attended to his injuries. It is not thought that he is injured internally. All things considered it was a very narrow escape, and George can consider himself very fortunate in emerging from the accident with no worse injuries than he recieved. NOTE: George died two days later.
