Obituary
MRS. M. C. KOCH
Redwood City Democrat
February 16, 1905
Mrs. M. C. Koch, one of Redwood's old residents, was laid to rest in Union Cemetery Tuesday afternoon. It is years since Mrs. Koch left this city and during those years many of her old friends and neighbors have been gathered in by the relentless reaper. The few who remain recall her with the tenderest of recollections, and when her body was laid away, there were mourners at her grave other than those who most keenly feel her loss. The burial took place shortly after the arrival of the 12:35 train on which the body of the deceased arrived. The pallbearers were Gevert Plump, Claus Hadler, P.P. Chamberlain, J.W. Glennan, Chris Grover, C.H. Offermann. Rev. C.C. Kirkland conducted the service at the grave.
Mrs. Koch was a native of Germany. Her husband was Frederick Koch, who during the pioneer days conducted a shoe store on Main Street. He died 30 years ago and was interred in Union Cemetery. His wife was laid beside him Tuesday. Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Koch had resided with her widowed son-in-law, W.C. Meyer at BakersField.

Obituary
At 5 o'clock last Monday morning Anna, the 16 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kreiss died at the home of her parents at the Canyada, of typhoid fever. Her illness was of short duration. Up to a few weeks ago she was stopping in Redwood City at the residence of Daniel Ford, attending the public school. She complained of illness and her parents took her home thinking that a few days of rest would restore her good health and enable her to return to her studies. It was during her last stay at the old homestead that she passed her 16th birthday, which event was made a festive occasion by her young friends. Shortly afterward her illness assumed a more serious form and in spite of all the loving, tender care of parents, sisters, and brothers and all good medical attendence could avail, she sank lower and lower and peacefully passed from earth. The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon. Religious services were held at the house by Mr. Rathbone of Redwood City, assisted by an efficent choir, after which the body, followed by the longest funeral cortege that ever passed through Portola Valley, was brought to Redwood City for burial in Union Cemetery. The morning was gloomy and the weather betokened rain, yet despite this fact, scores of old friends of Mr. and Mrs. Kreiss who had partaken of their hospitality on many a happy occasion came to them in their hour of greatest aflication, bringing them words of comfort and condolence. The deceased was born near the scene of her demise, and was 16 years and 16 days old. She leaves a wide circle of young acquaintances, who will long egret her death.
