    Obituary

    MARGARET MINNER
    Redwood City Democrat
    Match 20, 1902
Mrs. Margaret Minner, wife of the late Captain Perry Minner, passed away Thursday morning after a brief illness, though for a year or more she had been quite feeble owing to her advanced age. Mrs. Minner was one of the early pioneers of Redwood City, having resided here over thirty years. She was beloved by all who knew her. Her husband, Captain Minner, died in 1887 leaving a sufficient estate to care for his wife in her older years. In early days, he ran a schooner from here to San Francisco and did a good business and was well known to all sea faring men. Mrs. Minner was greatly attached to her husband and never completely recovered from the shock his death caused. She was loved and honored by the community where she lived so long. During the past few years owing to her enfeebled health, she was taken care of by James Crowe, who was recently appointed her guardian.
The funeral took place Saturday afternoon from the Episcopal Church, where services were held at 2 o'clock. Interment in Union Cemetery.

      Obituary

      CAPTAIN PERRY C. MINNER
      Times & Gazette
      March 20, 1887
Captain Perry C. Minner died last Tuesday morning after an illness of several months. He was born in Sing Sing, New York, October 15 1812. He had four sisters and six brothers, all but two of whom are older than he. Captain Minner was for two years in the ferry boat and tug boat business in New York harbor, and was captain of a tug boat there. He came to this coast in 1848 coming around the horn. He was married in Peekskill, New York in 1836 to Eliza Hunter, who died in 1846, leaving two children, both of whom are now living, Mrs. Emily Piercy, now a resident of San Francisco and William H. Minner, also living in San Francisco. Shortly after the death of the first Mrs. Minner, the captain made his first visit to California, as above stated. Returning to the east, he was married, in 1858, to Ellen Marble, with whom he came back to this state in 1859. He had no children by his second wife who died in July 1871. Captain Minner returned east again in 1872 and afterwards married Margaret Norris, sister of his second wife. He came to Redwood City to live in 1880 and ran a sloop for Purdy Pharis and for Hanson and Co. from Redwood City to Alameda, Oakland, and other places. Six years ago next May, Captain Minner accepted the janitor ship of the Courthouse, and held it up to late last December.
He is buried in Union Cemetery.
