Obituary

Clark Allen Page was born in New York in 1842. He joined the 98th New York Infantry when he enlisted in 1861 in Monroe, New York.
Clark was promoted to corporal during the 4 years of fighting in the Civil
War. He was discharged from the service on May 11, 1865, just a months after the War was over. By 1868 Clark had arrived in California and was settled into the City of San Mateo in San Mateo County. He was a dedicated member of the Grand Army of the Republic and when he died on April 16, 1879, he was only 37 years of age. He was a member of the Metamora Tribe of Redmen in Redwood City and he was buried under their honors and in their plot in Union Cemetery.

      John Palazon, a drygoods peddler, with a small store at 800 Main Street,
      this city, was instantly killed when the Ford automobile which he was driving
      was struck by a San Francisco bound Southern Pacific Passenger train No. 66, at one of the grade crossing between Beresford and Belmont Tuesday afternoon. Interment in Union Cemetery.
      Palazon leaves a widow and a ten year old daughter. The deceased and his wife and father and mother resided in Redwood city for about ten years. Last year the four left for Spain to visit their old home and the parents remained in the old country.

        Peter Pallange was born 29 September 1840 in Belgium-- that part of Belgium to the east that is called Luxemburg. It was detached from the Grand Duchy of Luxemburg at the time of the creation of Belgium after Napoleon. His father was Christopher Pallange and his mother Margaret Dou, both born in Belgium. He died January 30, 1816 after having been in California 5 months. He lived with Grandma Seely and Pop at 719 Jefferson. Cause of death according to E. Chaplin, M. D. was acute indigestion. He was buried February 3, 1916 in Union Cemetery at Lot 72-- Crowes Redwood City Undertaking Company handling arrangements.
