The body, which is that of a man aged 50 years, was found near the Guadaloupe dairy on the bay shore road. The deceased evidently died from carbolic acid, as there are marks about his mouth resembling burns and the smell of the poison on his body. The only scrap of identification found on the deceased is a poll tax receipt issued at Sacramento this year to John Peterson. Remains not being claimed were interred yesterday at the county's expense.

Obituary
Joseph Peterson, for many years a resident of Woodside and vicinity, passed away at the Red Cross hospital at San Mateo Monday afternoon, the result of an automobile accident near this city Sunday night
Frank J. Haaker, Thomas J. Coats, Joseph Peterson and J. Dyke were returning to their homes at Woodside in Haaker's machine when the accident occurred. Haaker and Coats, who were only slightly injured, declared that their little Ford touring car was struck by a big gray machine which suddenly plunged out of the road ahead at breakneck speed.
The Haaker machine turned a complete somersault. Haaker and Coats were thrown clear but Peterson and Dyke were not so fortunate. Peterson, who is better known as "Joe Pete," sustained a fractured skull and Dyke, who is known as "Klondyke," suffered severe contusions of the face and body.
Efforts to find the mysterious gray automobile which is said to have collided with Haaker's machine have proved unsuccessful, and the theory has been advanced that the mishap occurred with such suddeness that none of the occupants of the Haaker car knew exactly what happened. It is stated by some who have examined the damaged car that one of the tires exploded and the auto turned turtle.
Joe Peterson, whose death was caused by the accident, was 42 years of age and the father of two orphan children, his wife, who was Miss Early of Woodside, having died five years ago. Peterson was a millman by occupation and was well and favorably known to many. Interment will be in Union Cemetery.
Indications are that Dyke will recover.
