The deceased was a native of Wales and is thought to have relatives residing in that country. A bank book in his possession showed a deposit of $276 in the Hibernia Bank.

This city is mourning the loss of one of it's oldest and most respected citizens - Elbert O. Rhodes, who passed rather suddenly Thursday morning at his residence on Monroe street. The cause of death was heart trouble from which Mr. Rhodes had been suffering for some time. He was especially well liked here, where he followed his trade as a carpenter for many years.
Deceased was born in New York 73 years ago. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having seen active service in the navy. He was a member of General George S. Evans Post, G. A. R. The Independent Order of Foresters, Knights of Pythias, and the Fraternal Aid.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from his late residence, under the auspices of the Foresters. The interment was in Union cemetery. The members of the Grand Army of the Republic, the ladies of the Relief Corps and other organizations turned out in a body.
Mr. Rhodes was the husband of Mrs. Hattie Rhodes and father of the late George Rhodes.

George C. Rhodes, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Rhodes, died at the home of his parents Monday night after a painful illness for which he had suffered many months. Deceased was a most exemplary young man and a dutiful son whose loss will be keenly felt by his grief-stricken parents. He was a native of New York, aged 28 years. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, Rev. F. H. Maar holding services at the residence. Many friends attended the ceremony and accompanied the remains to Union cemetery where the interment took place.

Mrs. Hattie Rhodes, pioneer resident of Redwood City and widow of E. O. Rhodes, Civil War Veteran, passed away at the G. A. R. Home in Winchester, Santa Clara county, early last Saturday morning. Mrs. Rhodes had been at the home for the past year and had been in delicate health for some time. The family home was on Monroe street. Mr. Rhodes died some years ago. Mrs. Rhodes was 79 years of age. She had resided in Redwood City nearly half a century, and was a charter member of Gen. Geo. S. Evans Relief Corps, No. 36.
The funeral was held Monday morning from an undertaking parlor in San Jose, thence to this city, where services were held at Union Cemetery under the auspices of the local Relief Corps. The remains were laid to rest in the Grand Army plot, along side those of her husband.

Funeral services will be held here tomorrow for Mrs. Dolores Ribera, 70, a Redwood City resident for 42 years.
Mrs. Ribera died unexpectedly at Lakeport while visiting. She was a native of Spain. Her home was at 227 Hazel Ave.
Mrs. Ribera is survived by several children including Mrs. Josephine Gonzales and Manuel Ribera of Redwood City. Other children are Mrs. Maizie Nunez, Sacramento; Mrs. Carmen Peregrina, Upper Lake; Mrs. Dolores Zenansky, East Palo Alto; Joseph Ribera, Richmond and Frank Ribera, Sacramento. Nineteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
Rosary devotions will be held at the Layng & Tinney Funeral Home here 8 o'clock tonight.
Services will be held tomorrow from the Layng & Tinney Funeral home at 9:30 a.m., thence to Mt. Carmel Church where a Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
