JANE EMELINE STAFFORD
Redwood City Democrat
June 30, 1910
Mrs. Jane Emeline Stafford, a well known and respected resident of Redwood City, passed away peacefully at her home on Stambaugh Street Saturday morning. Mrs. Stafford, while not in robust health, was far from being considered dangerously ill and when her daughter, Mrs. Rossell on entering her room in the morning found her mother dead, she was shocked beyond expression. Mrs. Stafford passed away in her sleep. The deceased was a native of Maine, aged 62 years, and came to California with her first husband when a very young woman. In 1863, she was married to the late John Stafford, for many years a local citizen and member of the board of supervisors. She leaves four children H.S. Sears, Mrs J.L. Ross, Mrs. Frank Rossell, and Thomas Stafford. The burial took place from the family home on Sunday and was attended by many friends and neighbors. Rev. C.C. Kirkland conducted the services at the house and the body was interred in Union Cemetery.

JOHN STAFFORD
Redwood City Democrat
September 7, 1893
John Stafford died at his residence on Stambaugh Street last Friday morning about 3:30 am. His health had not been robust for a year past, although he was walking about town two days before he expired. The immediate cause was general debility complicated by pneumonia. He had been prominent in business and political circles of San Mateo County for a number of years. He served several terms as a Supervisor and was Under- sheriff with Edgar. He was buried Sunday afternoon under the auspices of the AOUW, of which he was a member in good standing. His funeral was very large, having a number in line from a distance. A widow (Jane Emeline Sears) and several children survive him. Mr. Stafford had many loyal friends in his life time and they were present in large numbers to attest their sympathy at death. The pallbearers were ex Senator James R. Turner, P.P. Chamberlain, County Treasurer, J.C. Edgar, Deputy Warden of State Prison, Supervisors W.B. Lawrence and H. B. Adair, Geo W. Fox.

OBITUARY ---------------
COLE STAFFORD
Redwood City Democrat
John Colin Stafford, another of the prominent young men of this city, departed this life on Thursday of last week after a brief illness.
Mr. Stafford had been ill for about three weeks with that dread complaint typhoid but his friends had thought that his rugged physique would pull him through. A change for the worse was noted last week and despite everything that medical skill could do and with tender came, he passed away as the twilight shades began to gather on Thursday. At his bedside when the end came were his young wife and his mother and brothers and sisters.
Cole Stafford was born in Redwood City 29 years ago and went through the public school supplementing this education with a business course at Healds Business College. He early joined his brothers in the conduct of the Pioneer Stable which his father, the late John Stafford, for 10 years Supervisor of the district, had left. About three years ago the stable was sold and he entered into business with his brother Still Sears in which he was engaged at the time of his death.
Cole was the oldest son of Mrs. and the late John Stafford and leaves to mourn his mother and two sisters, Mrs. Dr. J.L. Ross and Mrs. F. Rousell, and two brothers Still Sears and Thomas Stafford. About two years ago he married Miss Clair Murray and one daughter was the result of this union and the young woman is bereft at her great loss.
Mrs. J. Stafford who was traveling through the eastern states was recalled by telegraph and arrived at her home only a few hours before the death of her son.
The deceased was a member of the Native Sons of the Golden West and of the fraternal Order of Eagles. The funeral services were conducted by the former organization and the interment took place at Union Cemetery.
