Pioneer Dies.
A. P. Townsend died Monday at his home in Redwood City at the age of 65. Mr. Townsend was for many years connected with the lumber interests on the coastside and was known as a most expert woodsman. His wife and one son, Parker Townsend survive him.

    Mrs. Mary Jane Townsend, pioneer woman resident of this city, passed away at the East Columbia Hospital in San Jose early Tuesday morning. She had been a sufferer for some time from Bright's disease, but death was due directly to an attack of pneumonia which set in about three weeks ago. Her passing came as a great shock to her many friends in Redwood, who although aware of her serious condition, where hopeful for recovery.
    Mrs. Townsend was the wife of the late A. P. Townsend and the mother of John Parker Townsend. The latter, who has been in Montana for the past several years, where he had taken up some government land, was summonded when his mother's condition became serious and he was with her when the end came. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. William J. McDonald, now residing in New York and Mrs. P. H. McEvoy, formally of Menlo Park, but now making her home in Oakland. John Lloyd, who passed away recently in San Francisco, was a brother.
    Mrs. Townsend was born in San Francisco, but came to San Mateo county when a young girl, her parents first locating at Portola, then known as Searsville, and later moving to Redwood. She had been a resident of this city for over fourty years. For the past two years she had been living in San Jose at the home of Mrs. M. Walsh, a former resident of Redwood, and who passes away about a month ago. Mrs. Townsend, through her sweet and lovable ways, had endeared herself to hundreds of friends and she will be greatly missed in the community. She was prominent in lodge circles, being a member of Olive Branch Rebekah Lodge, The Fraternal Aid Union and Bonita Parlor No. 10 Native Daughters of the Golden West, being past president of the latter organization.
    The remains are now at the chapel of the Redwood Undertaking Parlors on Broadway where they may be viewed by friends. The funeral will be held this afternoon from the Foresters hall, where services will be conducted under the auspices of Bonita Parlor of the Native Daughters at 2 o'clock. the interment will be in Union Cemetery.

              Seldom in life does it fall to the lot of any of us to live to the ripe old age Mrs. Train did die surronded by such tender, loving care as she had. He most devoted sister, Mrs. Captain Minner, and a kind and loving husband, made her pathway to the unknown dwelling place of the dear departed one very smooth and easy. She died as she lived, quietly and peacefully, closing her eyes as a tired child might have done - satisfied that her work here was well done and that when she entered the presence of her Maker, He would say to her, "Well done thoa good and faithful servent, come unto the kingdom prepared for you."

                  VICTIM OF ACCIDENT BURIED IN HAYWARD
                  HAYWARD, Dec 29 - Funeral services were held this afternoon for Motor Patrolman Harry Beck Green, who died at the Hayward hospital Saturday night thrown from his motorcycle a week ago. Green was 34 years of age and was a native of Redwood City. He left a widow, Mrs. Fern E. Green and a family of three sons, Harry B. Green Jr., Marshall and Morrison Green. He was a member of Alameda Lodge, No. 167, Free and Accepted Masons, and Goodfellowship Camp No. 9533, Modern Woodmen of America.

                  Harry Beck Green is not actually buried in the Union Cemetery, but a Headstone was placed next to his father George Wilson Green's grave in 2023.

                    Joe Giovannoni, a painter, shot and killed Albert Tribolet with a shotgun at Bakersfield Jan 17. The murder was a result of a quarrel over a lewd woman. Giovannoni surrendered himself.
