          MRS. JESSIE BOMBERG

Young Mrs. Bamberg meets Painful Death
The startling news of the death of Mrs. Jessie Bomberg, the young wife of Harry Bomberg at McKittrick in Kern County, was received by wire by the family in this city Tuesday Morning. The brief message gave none of the details of the death, stating only that the young woman died from the effects of burning. A telephone from Bakersfield yesterday was to the effect that the young woman was fatally burned in an explosion early in the week and her death occurred Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock. The body is now on its way from Bakersfield and will reach this city this morning at 9 and will be interred in Union Cemetery.
Mrs. Bomberg, who was formerly Miss Jessie Lynch, was reared in this city. She was a popular young lady of a cheerful disposition and generally admired. She was 22 years of age. In October last she was married to Harry Bomberg and a month ago the couple went to McKettrick where Mr. Bomberg secured employment as a carpenter. The deepest sympathy is felt for the husband in his bereavement.

Redwood City Democrat - June 9, 1910 (Details the following week)
On the night of May 29, Mrs. Bomberg, who was suffering from a cold, was warming some sweet oil and turpentine over the fire when the mixture exploded and flames catching her clothing. She ran screaming from the house to a neighbor who quickly smothered the blaze but not before Mrs. Bomberg had been severely burned. The neighbor quickly summoned a doctor and a nurse and them sent for Mr. Bomberg who was at work. For thirty-six hours Mrs. Bomberg lingered in agony and on the morning of May 31 her suffering ended in death. The physicians said that she had inhaled the flames, otherwise her life might have been saved.
(an account of the funeral at the home of F.C. Bomberg, Rev C.C. Kirkland conducting the services, and the Congregational Church choir rendering musical selections follows).
