        Catherine Durham
        Story from Donna Dimmick
I can give you a pretty good story for Catherine Waldron Durham and her daughter Mary Durham Beebe.
Catherine's husband, Edmond Durham died of cholera in Ohio in 1849 leaving her a widow with 4 children (William W., Thomas G., Ott, and Mary) who are all buried in the cemetery.
William came to CA and then in 1858 went back to Ohio and brought his Mom and sibs across the plains. Mary wrote a long memoir about the trip that has been published in a couple places. She wrote it in a sort of diary that a cousin transcribed.
Catherine's sister, Leticia Waldron, was married to a Durham relative (another Wm Durham) and that couple is also buried in the cemetery.

        OBITUARY ---------------
        MRS. CATHERINE DURHAM
        Times and Gazette
        Dec. 23, 1876
Death has again invaded one of our families and this time has taken away one ripe in years and long respected in this community.
Mrs. Catherine Durham departed this life at the residence of one of her sons on the l9th instant. She was born on the 6th of September A.D. 1806. She married in early life to Mr. Durham, moved to Ohio with her husband in 1834 and again to California in 1849, having settled in the mountains in this county in 1859. She was the mother of six children, four of whom are still living. She was always known for her excellent qualities of character and loved for her many womanly virtues. Her life as the head of a family was a model one and her kindly ways endeared her to a large circle of friends. Few in this new land have lived to such a ripe old age; few have filled the measure of years in a manner so true and noble; and at her departure to the final home of the just, while all mourn her loss, none can be found to point to any act of hers with regret, or utter a harsh word on her memory.
