Obituary
The Redwood City Democrat
The death of Jacob Fox, which occurred last Saturday night, June 22nd 1895 was a surprise to his friends, although it was generally known that he was in feeble health. The prime cause of his demise was an acute case of the grip. Deceased was a native of Ohio, aged 63 years. He had lived here about 13 years and has been with W.W. Beeson, blacksmith on Main Street. As a worker in iron or wood he was an artist, but he was of a quiet, retiring disposition. He had served during the War enlisting on August 25th 1864 in Company I, 112th Infantry, of Ohio Volunteers and was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic chapter in Redwood City. It was under the auspices of the Grand Army that the funeral occurred on Monday from the undertaking parlor of James Crow. The remains were interred in Union Cemetery.
Edward M. Byers of Stockton, a nephew of the deceased had no other
relatives in this state, although there are several brothers in the east, one of which is the sheriff of an Illinois County.
