The death of Wm. Haaker, which occurred at Woodside on Saturday afternoon, was a sad surprise to his many friends and acquaintances in this vicinity, few of whom were aware of his illness. It seems that while cutting grain, he fell from the reaper a few days previous which he regarded as light and of little or no consequence. He therefore failed to take the necessary care of himself and when the end came, it was sudden and almost without warning. Deceased had been a resident of the county for almost 20 years, having resided at Woodside during the entire period. Haakerville which is adjacent to Woodside was established by him, from whom it is named. He leaves a wife and seven children and a circumstance which renders his sudden demise specially distressing is the fact that his wife is seriously ill and at the time of his death her life was despaired of.
The funeral occurred on Monday morning, the Rev. L.D. Rathbone briefly conducting the services at the residence in Woodside. The remains were brought to Union Cemetery where the interment took place under the auspices of Bay View Lodge No 109, IOOF of which the deceased was a member.

William Haaaker, an old resident of Woodside died suddenly Saturday afternoon. He had been ailing but a short time and
the news of his demise was a great surprise to the community. While
cutting hay some two weeks ago he was thrown from a mower and received injuries which were the ultimate cause of death.
Deceased was a strong robust man who always enjoyed the best of health and thinking lightly of his injuries, failed to take medical treatment.
Mr. Haaker was well and favorably regarded in this country where he had
lived nearly a quarter of a century. He was a life long Republican in which cause he was ever active and prominent. He very frequently represented Woodside at the different Republican conventions of the
county.
Mr. Haaker owned a valuable ranch at Woodside. A portion of it is laid out in a large vineyard from which the deceased sold considerable wine annually.
The funeral was under the auspices of Bay View Lodge, I. O. O. F., and took place from deceased's late residence Monday morning. Services were conducted at the residence by Rev. L. D. Rathbone. Interment was in Union Cemetery. The deceased leaves a wife and a large family of children.
He was considered to be a man of easy circumstances.
