      Redwood, September 14.
      Shortly before noon today A. H. Hanson was found dead in his cell at the County jail. The deceased had been on a debauch for the past two weeks and when arrested last Saturday evening by Night Watchman Gunning he was in a frightful condition.
      Deceased was well known both in this city and throughout the county. He had been the leader of the Redwood Band for years and was an excellent musician. At one time he held the position as leader of the orchestra in the California theater, San Francisco.
      He was formally Police Judge of this city, a position which he held several terms. The deceased was a prominent member of the Improved Order of the Redmen and the Druids, holding at different times positions of trust in both organizations. He will be buried by these orders. Hanson was a native of Massachusetts and 44 years old. He never married. The most of his life was spent in San Mateo county.

      Hounded by Creditors, Albert Hanson Seeks Death in the Lake.
      REDWOOD CITY, Cal., April 29.—Albert Hanson, brother of Charles Hanson, the millionaire lumber merchant, committed suicide this morning by drowning himself in Lake Lagunitas at Palo Alto.
      Hanson had charge of his brother's lumber business here, but about a year ago was removed from his position, and since that time had been drinking heavily. A short time ago, however, his brother Charles had him sent to the Keeley Institute, from which place he returned about six weeks ago. He went to San Francisco on Saturday and passed through town this morning, continuing on to Palo Alto. He went to the lake, took off his clothes, jumped in and was drowned. He left a note, in which he said he was hounded to his death by creditors. Hanson leaves a widow and three daughters, one 15, another 12 and another 10 years of age.

        Death of Mrs. C. M. Hanson
        Mrs. Catherine M. Hanson, wife of P. M. Hanson of this city, passed away Wednesday morning at the advanced age of sixty years and seventeen days. Deceased was an old resident of this county, coming here many years ago, first settling at San Mateo, and afterwards near Menlo Park. About twelve years ago the family moved to this city where they lived continuously ever since. Mrs. Hanson had been ailing for some months passed but apparently become restored to health when a sudden relapse Wednesday carried her off. She was a highly cultured lady, having come from one of the oldest and most respected families in Boston Mass., at which place she was born and raised. It was there she met and married her husband who was then a prosperous businessman of the Hub. Besides her husband, two sons, Andrew and E. M. Hanson survive her. The funeral took yesterday from the family residence on Arguello street. Interment Union Cemetery.
