News of the death of Arthur R. Kirkpatrick in Healdsburg, yesterday, was received here today by friends.
Mr. Kirkpatrick lived on a ranch near Redwood City for about 40 years, and is well known here. He was 73 years of age, and born in Rio Vista. He is survived by his widow Sarah C. (Weeks) Kirkpatrick, and two sons, who are Arthur R. Jr. and Chester R. Kirkpatrick.

CHARLES A. KIRKPATRICK

Dr. Chas A. Kirkpatrick died at St. Lukes Hospital, San Francisco, yesterday where he had been stopping for medical treatment. Deceased had been an invalid for eighteen months and recently suffered paralysis. Dr. Kirkpatrick was a pioneer, having come to this state in 1849. In 1862, he was attached to Gen. Conner’s brigade, and accompanied the troops to Utah where he rendered efficient medical aid during the Utah campaign. He was also stationed for a short period in Humboldt County. The doctor came to Redwood 25 years ago. He leaves a widow and six children surviving him. The funeral will take place at this place on Friday, April 25th at 2 p.m. Interment at Union Cemetery.

Confirmation of the reported death of young Gerald Kirkpatrick in San Francisco during the earthquake was had by finding of his body in the ruin of the San Francisco Gas and Electric Company's building. It was so badly mutilated as to make identification almost impossible. The remains were removed to this city and interred in Union Cemetery. The deceased was the youngest son of Mrs. Lila Kirkpatrick and the grandson of Mrs. Murch. He was a native of this city aged 21 years and had been an employee of the gas company for two years. Mrs. Kirkpatrick has the sympathy of the whole community.

Mrs. Sarah Cordelia Kirkpatrick, 77, died yesterday morning at her home in Healdsburg. Born in La Honda, San Mateo County, she had passed her entire lifetime in California, having lived in Healdsburg for nine years.
Mrs. Kirkpatrick was the widow of Arthur R. Kirkpatrick and mother of Arthur R. Kirkpatrick of Sebastopol, and Chester R. Kirkpatrick of Healdsburg.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow in Oakland at the Chapel of the Chimes, followed by cremation.

Joel Blakeslee Knapp was born about 1822 in New York. He was the son of Abraham Knapp and Elizabeth Drake.
He married Arabella "Belle" Eagar about 1850; they had at least seven children together (Some sources say they had 13 children.):

Joel and Arabella divorced in December of 1869 in San Francisco, California.
Joel was an artist who specialized in portraiture. He went to the Hawaiian Islands several times, starting in 1847. He opened a studio, to which he invited the public to come to see his work and commission him to do portraits of themselves and family members.
He also worked as a bookkeeper and miner. He was the mayor of Monterey, California in 1852.
He lived for a short time in Hawaii in 1847 and the early 1850s, but spent much of his life in California.
