MRS. CHARLOTTE J. DOUGLASS
Times-Gazette
April 19, 1890
Mrs. Charlotte J. Douglass died Thursday morning from a complication of diseases resulting in pneumonia of a most malignant type. Seeing the dangers, Dr. McCurdy had called in Dr. Barret and Loveland on the preceding day but their united counsel was unavailing to prevent the result and her demise took place shortly before noon. The sadness of the affair is increased from the fact that she leaves a family of small children. She is a native of this county having been born near Woodside 25 years, 8 months and 27 days ago and had been married to W.W. Douglass ten years. The funeral takes place tomorrow at 2 o'clock from the Methodist Church.

Obituary
James Douglass Dies of Alcoholic Excesses
South San Francisco, December 16 - James Douglass, an Englishman, aged about 48 years, came to his death to-day quietly sitting in front of Richard Harder's saloon on San Bruno road, in South San Francisco. One of the men nearby noticed that Douglass seemed unusually quiet and still and addressing him failed to receive any answer. A hasty examination aroused fear as to the man's condition. Dr. Plymire quickly responded to a hurried call and inform those present that Douglass was dead.
James Douglass had been very feeble and weak as a result of alcoholic excesses for many months. As far as can be learned he left no relatives. An inquest was held over the remains this afternoon by the Justice of the Peace Cunningham. It was found that Douglass came to his death as a result of alcoholic excesses.
