Death claimed another of Redwood’s pioneers last Saturday. Mrs Anna B. Tribolet who made her home here in this city for close to forty years, passed away after a long and painful illness. She came here in the seventies and with her husband Gottlieb Tribolet, conducted for many years a boarding and rooming house on Broadway, known as the “Farmers’ Home”.
Mrs. Tribolet was a generous whole-souled woman. She was always doing and giving for those in need and many persons in Redwood City, especially during the days of the hard times, had felt the benefits of her kind acts.
Mrs Tribolet was a native of Switzerland and was 69 years of age. She survived by her husband Gottlieb Tribolet, five sons — Henry G., Fred, Edward A., John J., William Tribolet and one daughter, Mrs. Anna Nelson.
The funeral was held Tuesday morning from the James Crowe Undertaking parlors on Webster Street where services were conducted at 10 o’clock. The interment was in Union Cemetery

    REDWOOD CITY, Dec 11 - Services today were held for Mrs. Mary Ellen Holden, 72, a resident of Redwood City for the past 60 years, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alice Stafford after a long illness. She was a native of San Francisco, and was the widow of the late George Holden, who died 17 years ago. Three daughters, Mrs. Stafford, Mrs. Emma McCree and Mrs. Lucille Long, all this city, survive.

              Gottlieb Tribolet, one of the oldest pioneer residents of Redwood City and former hotel keeper, passed away last Friday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Arthur Nelson, on Vera Street. He had been ill for sometime and death was due to old age. The deceased was a native of Switzerland and was 81 years of age. He came to Redwood in the early eighties and after being employed for a short time at the tannery of S.H. Frank & Co, engaged in the hotel business. He conducted the Farmer’s Home on Broadway, which, under the management of himself and wife, became known as one of the best eating places on the peninsula. The wife passed away about three years ago, since which time the husband had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Nelson. Mr. Tribolet was highly esteemed in the community being a man of sterling qualities and honest and upright in all his dealings.
              He is survived by the following children, Mrs. Arthur Nelson, Henry, Fred, Edward, John, and William Tribolet.
              The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the parlors of James Crowe Undertaking Co on Webster Street. Rev. E. MacNuhy of the St. Peters Church conducted the services. Many old time friends attending the funeral. The members of Metamora Tribe No 24 Improved Order of Redmen of which the deceased was a member turned out in a body. The interment was in Union Cemetery.

                TRIBOLET, 70, CITY PIONEER PASSES AWAY
                Foresters Here Lose First Chief Ranger; Three Kin Survive
                In Ill health for some time, Henry G. Tribolet, first chief ranger of the Court Madrone No. 158, Foresters of America, and one of the two surviving charter members, died late last night at a San Mateo hospital.
                Mr. Tribolet, who was born 70 years ago in Louisville, Ky, was a member of a pioneer local family. He had lived here for 54 years himself, at one time being engaged in business with his parents who operated the Farmers' Home rooming and boarding house on Broadway, some 40 years ago, and later operating a butcher shop on Main Street. Recently he had been employed as a janitor at the Foresters' Hall.
                He had been a member of the local Foresters' lodge for 39 years. He made his home at 305 Cedar street.
                Let to mourn his passing are a sister, Mrs. Anna E. Nelson, and two brothers, Fred and John, all of Redwood City. Mr. Tribolet was unmarried. He was a brother of the late William, Edward, and Jacob Tribolet.
                Funeral services have been set for Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Layng and Tinney Funeral Home. The Rev. J. E. Marozik, pastor of the Redeemer Lutheran Church will conduct the rites. Interment will follow in the family plot in Union Cemetery.
