E. H. Louis Winkler, aged 36 years and 11 months, and second oldest son of J. K. G. Winkler, died suddenly last Sunday. He was ill but a short time when the summons came. Deceased was associated with his father in the blacksmith business. He was well liked by all who knew him, he being a young man of exemplary habits and kind and pleasing ways. Mr. Winkler was born in Australia, but came to Woodside when only six years old and has always resided here. Besides his wife and two little daughters a wide circle of friends mourn his loss. The interment was in Union Cemetery, Redwood City, last Wednesday.

            From the book "History of San Mateo County", 1883:
            John K. G. Winkler. The subject of this sketch was born in Prussia,
            December 24, 1829. In 1855 , he emigrated to Australia . Having learned the trade of coachmaker in his native country, he followed that occupation while in Australia . He came to this state in 1869, arriving on the 5th day of May in that year. After a stay of three weeks in San Francisco , he came to Woodside, where he opened a shop a short distance below where his present place of business is located. In 1882, he erected a frame building sufficiently large to accommodate a wagon and blacksmith trades, manufacturing wagons and carriages, besides carrying on a general wood and iron repairing for the farmers and teamsters of the surrounding country. He married Maria Hoehne, a native of Prussia , and they have five children; John T. C., Louis E. H., Earnest, Bertha and Ferdinand.

                Edgar M. Winn, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis J. Winn, passed away at his home on Winslow Street last Friday evening. Deceased was a native of Redwood City and was aged 41 years. Funeral services were held yesterday from the residence on Winslow Street. The interment was in Union Cemetery.
                Besides the father and mother, he is survived by one brother, George Winn, who came down from Vancouver, B.C., to attend the funeral.
                The family of the late Edgar Winn wish to thank their many friends for their many kindness’ during their late bereavement.

                    Funeral Held for Lewis Jay Winn
                    Funeral services were held this morning for Lewis Jay Winn, who died at the family home at 530 Winslow avenue Monday following an illness of several weeks.
                    Winn was a carpenter by trade and was 79 years of age. Although born in New York he had resided in Redwood City for many years and is mourned by a large circle of friends.
                    He is survived by a widow, Mrs. Minnie Winn, and a son, George H Winn. Funeral services were under the direction of Lang & Tinney and were conducted by Rev. Owens. Internment was in Union Cemetery.
