                    Obituary

Jes S. Brandrup, a widely known and respected citizen of the community died at his residence Tuesday morning after an illness of nearly a year. The deceased was a native of Germany, aged 40 years. Some years ago he came to Menlo Park and engaged in business with his brother, John Brandrup, the well known blacksmith. The business not being agreeable to his health, he moved to Redwood City and found employment where he remained up to the time of his illness. Mr. Brandrup leaves a widow, two small children and a brother to mourn him. He was an honored member of the Odd Fellows and Red Men, under whose auspices the funeral took place Thursday at 2 p.m. both societies attending in a body. As a mark of esteem and respect to his memory all work at the tannery was suspended Thursday afternoon. The following acted as pall bearers: Samuel Christenson and C. Holmquist, representing the Red Men; W. H. Pipken and Fred Nattkemeper, representing the Odd Fellows, Joseph Shot and George Seavers of the Tanner's Aid Association. The burial took place at Union Cemetery.
