          Joseph Mahoney, 59, a resident of Redwood City for the past nine years, died this morning at the Community Hospital, Beresford, after a brief illness.
          With his wife, Mrs. Alta Mahoney, he head resided at 446 Heller Street and was a painter by trade. He was a native of San Francisco.
          There are no children. A sister, Mrs. May Lane of San Francisco, and several other relatives survive.
          Layng & TInney have charge of the funeral arrangements.

                  Charles Mansfield, brother of the late Sheriff Joel H. Mansfield, and an uncle of City Attorney Albert Mansfield and Harland Mansfield, passed away at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Alice Mansfield on Hamilton street Friday afternoon. Death was due to heart trouble from which the deceased had been a sufferer for some time.
                  Mansfield was a native of Massachusetts and was 68 years of age. He had been a resident of California over 50 years and of San Mateo County nearly 40 years. He spent most of his time at Half Moon Bay, where he followed the trade of painter. He and his brother, the late Joel H. Mansfield, were in the painting contracting business on the coastside some years ago. During the past ten years the deceased had made his home near Mayfield. He never married.
                  The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the chapel of Layng & Tinney on Broadway, where services were conducted by Rev. S. C. Thomas of the Medthodist-Esiscopal Church. The interment was in Union Cemetery.
