Death of Mrs. Meyer of Woodside.
After a brief illness Mrs. Fritz Meyer died at her Woodside home on Thursday. She was a native of Germany, aged 49 years. Her husband died about two years ago, leaving a large family. Mrs. Meyer was a devoted mother, a true Christian woman and a good neighbor and admired for her many womanly virtues. She leaves a family of seven children, two boys and five girls, the oldest being 24 and the youngest 7. She resided at Woodside for the past twenty years and was well known and liked by all. The funeral will take place to-morrow at 1:30 o'clock. Thence to Woodside church, where service will be held.

Obituary
Last Sunday forenoon some employees of Lux and Miller, at Baden Station, discovered the body of a decently clad man lying in the highway near the station. The body was recognized as that of a man who had been seen wandering aimlessly about the neighborhood since early in the morning. He had first been noticed at about 6 o'clock, and then agian at 9. When found it was but 10 o'clock, and the man dead. A phial lying beside him indicated that he had taken poison. A note was found in his pocket of clothing, which ran as follows.
"Mr. Coroner - Will you please bury me decent in a decent burying ground. I have lost all mine money; that is the cause on mine death. I am an old man; got no work, and I am robbed all mine money. I am a decent man. My name is John Meyers. I came from Pitselfanean; born at Hanover, Germany."
The body was properly buried in Union Cemetery.

Was the widow of one of the county's earliest and wealthiest residents. Mrs. Juliet J Mezes, the widow of S. M. Mezes, died at her home in San Francisco on Tuesday. The deceased leaves to mourn her, two children, Mrs. Carmelita Winn and Simon E. Mezes, the later being president of the Texas University. Mrs. Mezes was the daughter of Sidney L. Johnson, one of the famous attorneys of early California. Her husband, who was one of the county pioneer residents and a wealthy land owner, his home being in Belmont. His large estate was occupied by his widow and two children.
