Laid in the Grave
The funeral of the late Harry Powell took place Thursday afternoon from the hall of Court Star of Redwood No. 7912, A. O. F., of which the deceased was an honored member. The obsequies were held under it's auspices. There was a full attendance of the members present to pay the last tribute of respect to their departed brother. George W. Lovie read the burial service after which he paid a fitting eulogy to the deceased, saying "The life of our departed brother began at San Francisco in the year of 1861. He came among us some six years ago an by his gentlemanly conduct and fair dealing with his fellow men gained the friendship of those with whom he became acquainted. During his stay here he affiliated himself with this Court. He was a loyal member and labored to advance the interests of our organization. He had a kindly feeling not only for his brother members but for all, which trait should be characteristic of every true Christian."
The members formed in double file and marched to Union Cemetery where the body of Harry Powell was laid in the grave. The pall bearers, selected from among the members, where W. H. Lipp Jr., Ted Thompson, John Hall, Geo. West, Arthur Elvin and Geo. Douglas.
The deceased passed on this earth early on a Tuesday morning after an illness of eight weeks. He had contracted a severe cold which developed into pneumonia. An abcess formed on his lung. The doctors gave as their opinion that Powell could not recover and it would be only a matter of time when the sufferer would pass into the regions beyond. His last moments on earth were made as comfortable as possible by the members of the A. O. F..
The deceased was constantly attended to by Drs. Ross & Barret. Geo. West, who is one of the best nurses in the country, never left his side.
Harry Powel was born in San Francisco in 1861. His mother died two weeks ago, but his sad news was never imparted to the deceased as it was thought it would tend to add more to the suffering of the dying man. Two brothers survive him, one of whom lives in the State of Washington and the other in Oregon.

Obituary
GEORGE W. PREBBLE
Redwood City Democrat
April 6, 1893
George W. Prebble, a well-known resident of this place, was drowned in San Gregorio Creek not far from the old Week’s place, last Sunday afternoon. He evidently attempted to cross the creek on a log which spanned it, and becoming dizzy, fell head foremost into a hole of water about three feet deep. In falling, he must have been stunned by striking his head and was unable to help himself. Mr. Boyd, his companion, returning up the creek in search of him, found him in the water, dead. Mr. Prebble was for some years baggage agent at the depot here. He was an amiable man and well liked by those who knew him.
