DEATH OF MRS. THOMAS
On Tuesday afternoon, November 30, Mrs. Charlotte Thomas of this place passed away after a lingering illness of five months. Mrs. Thomas was born in Indiana in 1832 and has been a resident in California for about six years. She had been a widow for seventeen years and made her home here with her sister, Mrs. E. F. Doty, who now mourns her loss. Through all her tedious illness Mrs. Thomas exhibited a patience and a trust in the Heavenly Father that went far to console those who watched her increasing weakness. The funeral on Cowper street at two o'clock Thursday afternoon. Dr. Graybill read the beautiful ritual of the burial service and offered a few words of consolation to the bereaved . Rev. L. M. Burwell, who had known the deceased during a part of her illness, spoke of her character and of the comfort attendant upon the triumphant transition of a Christian from the trials of time to the peace of eternity. A trio consisting of Mrs. Silsby, Ed Sloan, and Harry Sloan sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and another selection, favorite hymns of Mrs. Thomas. Quite a number of friends went to Redwood City cemetery where the interment took place.
