He was brought to San Mateo and medical aid was summonded, but he was injured so badly that he died Saturday. Cororner Crowe was notified and and the remains were taken to the morgue. Obituary
On Sunday morning last, as the trackwalker for the Southern Pacific Company was pushing his way towards Belmont, he saw the body of a man lying beside the track just this side of San Carlos. Cororner Crowe was notified and took charge of the remains. The body was within two feet of the ties and the only wound visible was a hole in the head which seemed to have been made with a blunt insturment. The theory is that deceased had been sleeping with his head too close to the track and that he was struck by the engine of the train that leaves Redwood City. The only papers found on the body were a card bearing the address of Frank Greenwald, Hotel Rhein, 232 Fremont street, Portland Oregon, and a certificate of naturalization from the County Court of Meade County, South Dakota dated October 15, 1891. By this certificate it was shown that the name of the deceased was Rudolph Fullner and that he was a native of Germany. He was about 5 feet, 5 inches high, weighted about 160 pounds, had a sandy mustache and dark brown hair and was between 45 and 50 years of age. A hole in the hat answered to the cut in the head.
