August L. Ackerman of La Honda shot and killed his wife in San Francisco, Wednesday and sent a bullet into his own brain, dying a few hours after his wife had passed away. Ackerman was a pioneer of La Honda, having at one time conducted a blacksmith business there and later in connection with a former wife, conducted a small hotel, He was divorced from his former wife several years ago and sometime afterwards married the woman he killed last Wednesday.
On September 12, 1912, Ackerman filed suit for divorce in Redwood City, but the complaint was dismissed May 13, 1913. On April 14 of this year, the wife brought suit for divorce in Redwood City and the case was tried June 18, the divorce was denied on August 14 last.
The couple had been quarreling since and Mrs. Ackerman went to live in San Francisco. Wednesday Ackerman left La Honda and went to San Francisco to ask Mrs. Ackerman to go back and live with him. His efforts to effect a reconciliation failed. When she refused, he drew a revolver and shot her, killing her instantly.
Mrs. Ackerman is survived by four children by a former marriage. Both Ackerman and his wife were married 50 years old. Ackerman's victim was interned in San Francisco while he was buried in this city.
