Obituary

An inexpressible sad event in this city this week was the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Choate, the young wife of Bennett Choate, which occurred Sunday at noon. The deceased had been ill since February with that dreaded of all maladies - consumption.
As Miss Lizzie Westergreen she was known and loved by many in this city, where her birth occurred twenty-one years ago and where all of her life ws spent. A little over a year ago she became the bride of Bennett Choate, one of Redwood's industrious young men, whom the blow of separation has fallen most heavily. Every effort was made to prolong her life until she closed her eyes in the dreamless sleep that knows neither the pain nor sorrow of earth.
Her funeral took place Tuesday afternoon at St. Peter's Episcopal church, where Rev. David M. Crabtree conducted the impressive service of the dead. Her body was escorted to Union cemetery by Olive Branch, Rebekah lodge, of which she was a member, and with the beautiful ritual of that order was reverently laid at rest, her grave being hidden beneath a wreath of floral offerings, expressive of the sympathy and sorrow of friends and neighbors.
The deceased leaves two brothers and one sister, the latter being Mrs. A. J. Beer Jr. of this city.
