Obituary

Leonardo Villegas, a Mexican woodchopper, was shot and killed by Antone Sanchez, a fellow countryman, in a boarding house in the Boyd & Kent tract, Five Points district, shortly before noon hour Tuesday. Sanchez escaped the shooting, but was captured several hours later on the Dumbarton cutoff this side of Newark.
Villegas and Sanchez, with a third countryman had been drinking during the morning and a quarrel arose between Villegas and Sanchez, when the former refused a loan of five dollars. Villegas called Sanchez a vile name and the shooting followed, Sanchez using a 25-automatic revolver with which he shot Villegas just over the heart, the bullet passing over to the right lung and lodging in the man's back, causing instant death.
