Mrs. Louisa A. Ayers Answers Summons
Mrs. Louisa Ayers, a pioneer resident of this community and widow of Charles Ayers, proprietor of the Tremont Hotel on Main street, passed away at an early hour Monday morning, following a second stroke of apoplexy. Mrs. Ayers was first stricken about six weeks ago and was taken to the Red Cross Hospital in San Mateo, where she recovered and was able to return to her home in this city. The second stroke occurred about midnight Sunday. She failed to regain consciousness and the end came about four o'clock the following morning.
Mrs. Ayres was born in Germany but came to this country while still quite a young girl. She moved to San Mateo county in the early sixties settling first at Pescadero, where she made her home for 18 years. She was a resident of Redwood City for over 37 years. She is survived by one son, James B. Ayers of this city, and by several brothers and sisters in the east.
A large number of friends attended the funeral services which were held yesterday afternoon at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. The interment was in Union Cemetery.
