Doctor George Franklin Bradbury was born in Indiana on May 10, 1867 and he was the first child of William Thomas and Nancy Mahala Horne Bradbury who was born in North Carolina in 1836. The couple had a number of children including George Franklin and William Barden Bradbury who was born January 17, 1867 in Contra Costa County. The other children were Eliza Mathilde, Margaret Elizabeth, Edward Stanley, Mary Mahala and Estella Michel.
Doctor George Bradbury became rather well known as he traveled to Colusa, Mexico, where he was in charge of the small-pox center during the epidemic of 1887-1888. Doctor George Bradbury became the resident physician at the County Hospital for the City and County of San Francisco for the rest of his life.
