William Watkins, a former old time resident of this community and an uncle of George and Henry Gilbert of this city, passed away at San Diego last Sunday. He was a native of England and 84 years of age. With his family he came to Redwood City in the early 50's and with a brother farmed the Hawes ranch west of town for a number of years. Later he bought a ranch near La Honda and lived at that place up to about five years ago when he sold his holdings and went to San Diego to make his home with friends. Watkins leaves one sister, Mrs. Alex Monroe of Kings Mountain, San Mateo County. He was unmarried. Remains are being shipped to the James Crowe Undertaking Company in this city, arriving today. Interment will be at Union Cemetery.
