Obituary

MRS. CORDELLA WEEKS
Redwood City Democrat
September 26, 1901
Yesterday one more of San Mateo's pioneers was laid in the grave, Mrs. Cordella Weeks, wife of the late Supervisor Robert Weeks, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E.D. Knott near Mayfield last Monday after a protracted illness resulting from a complication of diseases. Mrs. Weeks was one of the oldest residents of the county. She came here from her girlhood in Massachusetts in 1852 with her young husband and her daughter. Mrs. Knott, enduring the hardships of the Argonauts, settled on the place now known as the Weeks ranch, near La Honda. Here she made her home until a few years ago when she removed with her daughter to Mayfield. She leaves to mourn her five grown up children B.D. and Asa Weeks, Mrs. Knott, Mrs. E. Cameron and Mrs. A.R. Kirtpatrick and a number of grandchildren. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, services being held at her home.
Mrs. Weeks will be long mourned by those who, through the long years of her residence in this county, knew her as a kind and thoughtful neighbor. No better testimony could be made of human character than the many expressions of regret that have been heard since her death. Many friends old and new were present when her body was laid to rest in Union Cemetery beside her husband, who in 1887 had preceded her to the grave. She was 82 years of age. The family return heartfelt thanks for the kindness shown them during their bereavement.
