Judge Wallis, a pioneer of California, died Wednesday morning at Mayfield, where he had resided many years. He was born in Salem, Mass. And was 73 years of age. He leaves a widow and four children: Talbot H. Wallis, Mrs. Bounds, Mrs. Josephine Ingalls and Wm A. Wallis. Deceased was well known in this city.
Judge Wallis was admitted to the bar in 1855 and has been recognized as one of the most able and active men in the legal profession. He has always taken an active interest in public affairs, having been a State Senator, and in early days one of Santa Clara County’s Associate Judges. He was a member of the Free Soil Convention that nominated Van Buren and Adams.
The interment took place at Union Cemetery, this City, Friday.
