Death of Mrs. Sarah Wentworth at the home of her Niece, Mrs. N.C. Cummings, On King Street…Eighty years of age, Mrs. Wentworth had been a resident of San Mateo county for the past 71 years, coming across the plains with her parents in 1853 from her childhood home in Cass county, Missouri, were she was born. An active member of the local congregational church, R.C. Woman's Club, Ladies Sewing Circle, Rebekahs, Eastern Star and Woman's Relief Corps, the deceased had throughout her life been intimately associated with civic, fraternal and religious activities of the community….Born in Cass county, Missouri, in 1844, Mrs. Wentworth was the daughter of the late Andrew and Permelia Teague. With them and other members of Teague family, Mrs. Wentworth crossed the plains as a girl of nine years, locating with her parents at Woodside, near Tripp place, were for years the Teagues were Prominent, later acquired a considerable fortune. She was one of a family of five girls and one boy. Married at a early age to the late George Wentworth, wealth rancher of Woodside, whose widow she was, Mrs. Wentworth never left Sam Mateo county except for brief visits. She was the mother of Frank Pitman Wentworth and the late Charles Wentworth and the sister of Mrs. T.J. Shaw and Mary Rice, who survive her, and the late Mrs. Martha Durham, Mrs. Rebecca Clark, Mrs. Francis M. Wright and William C. Teague, all deceased. She was the grandmother of George, Frank De Alton, and John Wentworth, all of the city, and the great grandmother of Everett Leach…Interment in Union Cemetery.

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Sarah Wentworth were held at the congregational Church yesterday afternoon. The Church was filled with relatives and friends and the front of the auditorium was banked with floral pieces tokens of esteem in which the deceased was held by the entire community. Quartet composed of Otis M. Carrington, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Doxsee, and Mrs. Dorothy Bresse sang two selections and Pro. Richards played Chopin's funeral march on the organ. The pallbearers were C.M. Doxsee, Roy W. Cloud, F. K. Towne. E. B. Whitehead, G. B. Merrill and J. Shermantine. A brief service preceded interment at Union Cemetery.
